Knoxville Information and Links

Knoxville is a wonderful place to live!

MOUNTAINS
We have the emerald jewel of the southeast, The Great Smokey Mountains, home to the widest variety of botanicals in the world.  Our park is visited by over 2 million people a year who enjoy hiking, fishing and camping.  Dollywood is a world-class recreational park in Sevierville, just outside the Smokies.

BEACHES
We are a day's drive to the east coast and several wonderful beaches.

GOLF
We are within a day's drive of one of the world's finest golf communities, Hilton Head Island, but we also have world-class golf right here in town.

LAKES
We have several deep lakes and rivers for boating and fishing enthusiasts.  Fort Loudon lake is part of the Great Tennessee River, which is the main waterway to the Gulf of Mexico!  World-famous Sea-Ray boats are made here.

NASHVILLE
We are a 2.5 hour drive from Nashville, music-city USA and home of Titans professional football.

SPORTS
The University of Tennessee is the home of the Vols, one of college footballs finest teams.  The Big Orange games rule the fall season in Knoxville bringing out hundreds of thousands of fans every year.

The Lady Vols, UT's women's basketball team has rocked the Thompson-Bowling arena in Knoxville hosting more NCAA games than any other venue or city.  Pat Summit is the winningest Division I basketball coach of all time!

Baseball fans can enjoy minor league ball with major league fans in a brand new ball park, The Knoxville Smokies.

TRANSPORTATION
Our small but mighty airport, McGhee Tyson,  is convenient, easy to access.  You can fly to 3 major hubs, Atlanta, Charlotte and Cincinnati, in less than an hour.

Being on the eastern seaboard, and right in the middle, we are 12 hours drive from New York City and Miami.  We are 4 hours drive from Atlanta, 2 and 1/2 hours drive to Nashville.

WEATHER
Knoxville is famous for wonderful weather!  Mild temps and decent precipitation levels create a comfortable living environment.

If you're a gardener,  you will be in heaven.  We can grow flowers of some sort year round and a wide variety of perennials do very well.  We put out the vegetable gardens beginning in March and harvest some things by April or May.  There are many community garden clubs in which to participate and make friends.

COST OF LIVING
All of this and more at a great low cost of living. Knoxville can be as big or as small as you want it to be....come experience it today.
